Like many new bloggers, I didn't want to invest in expensive camera equipment right abroad. And so how do you make sure your Pinterest photos look professional if all you've got to work with is your jail cell phone?

Y'all actually can take heart-catching photos and create interesting pins that get clicks (and page views) with a few like shooting fish in a barrel tricks. Pinterest can be overwhelming at first, just if you practice your homework, you'll come across results!

You don't need a fancy camera to make eye-catching and effective graphics that get page views! 4 pro tips to take better Pinterest photos with your iPhone that send traffic to your blog!

How to create better Pinterest photos with your iPhone

1. Go Large!

I love photos where the subject area is bright and clear and the background is soft and out-of-focus. Unfortunately, you can't really achieve this with a photographic camera telephone. The solution? Don't leave much room for a background at all! Close-ups are highly-seasoned and show item, especially with food.

Take a look at the two photos below. Information technology's the same easy, but in the first shot, the background is distracting and unappealing. For the second shot I got in close and just put a dish towel behind information technology to block out the corners of the background.  Information technology'southward one of my most pop pins — you lot can actually run into just how gooey the Gluey Toffee Pudding Cake is!

You lot could even fake an extreme close-up by cropping during the editing process. The photo below is a cropped department from the photo above. Wow! Talk nigh mouth-watering!

4. Light information technology upward!

More low-cal means that you'll be able to run into more than particular in your photos. Natural light works best — effort taking your shots outside or side by side to a window.

If you don't have a natural light source available, yous might need to become creative. I took a lot of my early food photos (including the Gummy Toffee Pudding above) using the bright light to a higher place our stove!

Try a few different angles to experiment with the low-cal hit your photo bailiwick from unlike directions. It's always practiced to accept a few options to work with when y'all're editing and selecting the winner.

3. Use a White Background (Or Cut Out the Background Completely)

White makes colors pop! Take a look at the commencement photograph beneath — I simply laid the clothespin and tape roll on a piece of white poster lath. If you're non ready to invest in pricey vinyl backdrops, cheap poster lath works wonders for a fraction of the cost!

You lot might notice that when you lot upload your photos, they look duller than they did on your phone. Fortunately there's an easy set up!

The 2nd photo shows my edits in the basic photo software that came with my computer. Simply creepo up the exposure and lower the "temperature" (or "cast") to even out the xanthous tones. At present the white background looks clean and the colors of the objects grab your attending.

Some other easy fix for dull backgrounds is to erase them!

In the photograph below, I used the "Instant Alpha" characteristic on my photo editing program (the one that came with my figurer) to become rid of everything only the subjects themselves. So I added text in colors prominent in the picture, and the result is a visually highly-seasoned pin.

4. Enhance Your Photos with Killer Text!

Speaking of text…

With or without "Rich Pins," you lot tin can still permit people know what your pin is about at a glance. Plus, beautiful lettering tin can make upward for less than stellar photographs!

Imagine you lot're the editor of a magazine and you accept just a few words on the embrace to entice people to purchase it from the checkout line. Pinterest is much the same — users scroll through tons of pins apace, then you need to do something to catch their eye!

Incorporate a title on your pin (it doesn't have to be the exact aforementioned as that of your actual article) that will make people want to read more. Sometimes I use the same title as the post itself, sometimes I utilise a dissimilar title on the pin paradigm to give readers more information upwards front end.

Your headline should exist BOTH informative (what is the pin virtually?) and intriguing (why should you want to read the full commodity?) or your pivot could get passed over!

Tips for working with text:

  • Effort fun fonts, or perchance add a second font for accent. But don't get also crazy! Read-ability is key!
  • Use colour! Both complimentary and contrasting colors tin can be very constructive. I similar to match key words to a prominent color in the photo.
  • Make certain the text is large enough to read, even when viewed on a telephone screen.
  • Keep it uncomplicated — no one is going to read a novel!

These are all pins that (nonetheless) rock Pinterest…and they're all iPhone photos!
