Why Is My Upload Faster Than My Download Speed

  • #i
My internet package details minimum download speeds of 1mbps with maximum speeds of 2mbps. For some reason I have not been getting those speeds at all. Infact, I take been getting 1mbps UPLOAD speeds and 0.20-0.50mbps download speeds. Is there whatsoever reason my upload speeds would be so much college than my download speeds? I've tried fiddling with my router by changing the DNS (to Google servers), changing the wifi channels, connecting direct to my router with an ethernet cable, etc. merely nothing seems to be working. My Internet service provider sent me an email that their servers show I am getting over one.2mbps download speeds with a graph visually detailing the speeds, yet I have not been getting that.

There is no one else connected to my router, I have checked several times, and I don't have whatever groundwork processes on my estimator that would affect my speeds. At this point I have no idea why my speeds are the manner that they are. Anyone have any clue what could be incorrect?

(Information technology's the aforementioned on my mobile device too).

See if you lot can borrow a router for testing purposes equally I doubtable that may be the crusade.

And if it isn't, well at least you will have eliminated that, then some progress will take been made.

That'due south messed upward. Have you tried plugging directly into the router temporarily to check speeds? If wired runs at rated speed then can showtime working thru wireless troubleshooting.

Equally asked above, what kind of connection?

I tried straight plugging into the router, got the exact same speeds. In that location is the graph my ISP sent me, showing clearly I am getting over 1mbps internet speeds. However, my actual connection speeds say much different.

Might try a new cable between router and modem or endeavor plugging straight into modem and rechecking. bad cable would explain why speed to the modem is showing faster than speed at the router.

Would say to update drivers simply since both wired and wireless are both doing information technology probably wouldnt aid.

I've checked my router status, I'm the merely ane connected. I've tried turning off all of my wifi enabled devices to make the speed examination every bit accurate equally possible. I have WPA2-PSK countersign protection on my router.

I merely double-checked my connection via an ethernet cable and funny enough it was much better, actually met the minimum speed. So, I judge it may exist just my router after all, whatever guesses what may exist wrong with it?

Cable to the modem or cable to the router? Cable to modem then u have a bad connection between router and modem. Cable to router then you take a wireless issue.

Do yous have a wireless card with external antennae? Disconnect/reconnect those.

Get to device manager and encounter if the wireless is showing any errors.

Completely uninstall the wireless driver and reinstall latest from manufacturers website.

After all that, go into the wireless settings and walk through each ane to see what options are.
